Works by SBCC School of Media Arts Graduates to air on The Sundance Channel in January
Four shows designed by filmmakers and SBCC graduates Meg Barbour and Giancarlo Rondani will appear on the Sundance Channel throughout January as a part of the cable channel’s promotion of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Rondani and Barbour designed motion graphics for the interstitial programs Meet The Filmmaker, My Premiere, Interview, and Best of the Festival, which are a part of “31 Days of Sundance”, aseries airing every night in January at 9 pm on the Sundance Channel. (The festival dates are January 17-27).
Rondani and Barbour credit SBCC’s School of Media Arts program and its faculty for their expert training in filmmaking and graphics. They took a motion graphics design class at SBCC with instructor Curtis Bieber in 2003, and were motivated to pursue a career in the Media Arts. Four years later, Rondani and Barbour teamed up with Ulrike Kerber, creative director of the Santa Barbara-based Viva Design Inc., to produce the Sundance Film Festival's Channel's on-air promotional animations, with Giancarlo as lead Animator, and Meg as Executive Producer. Their works can also be seen on Viva Design's website:www.vivadesign.com.
Asked about her training, Meg Barbour said, "I am grateful to Santa Barbara City College's School of Media Arts program for my career. What an incredible program and experience! Professor Michael Stinson taught me my first film production class. That got me hooked. Curtis Bieber's exceptional teaching in motion graphics and film production helped me win awards at statewide competitions. Having exceptional teachers who motivate and inspire while providing industry knowledge and access to professional tools (cameras, lighting equipment, computers, software, etc) has opened up doors for me to have a career in Television and Film. I am very lucky to have had such amazing opportunities at SBCC."
