The proposed Conference
and Press Center
The Foundation for Santa Barbara City College is helping to raise funds to build a new Conference and Press Center (CPC) for the College. Santa Barbara City College and its La Playa Stadium occupy the quintessential California coastal location overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Built in the late 1930s, it is home to the Vaqueros football, soccer and track and field teams, and serves all of the College's athletes and programs. La Playa Stadium serves as the home venue for Bishop Garcia Diego High School's football games and various regional athletic competitions. The stadium is a popular community resource as well, used by area residents for physical training throughout the year.
The stadium press box, now over 60 years old, is physically and functionally obsolete and virtually unable to meet the College's needs. The new Conference and Press Center (CPC) will bring the stadium facility to "state-of-the-art" status while providing ample room for the College's coaches and staff, as well as visiting personnel. It will also provide much-needed conference space for myriad uses by faculty, staff and guests. The Foundation has received $500,000 as a challenge grant to be matched. Help us reach our goal of $1,550,000 toward this project.
YES! I would like to help Santa Barbara City College reach its goal by making a contribution to the new Conference and Press Center. |
