Lucille Boss is the director of scholarships for the Santa Barbara City College Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing support for Santa Barbara City College and its students. In this role, she manages scholarship fundraising and administration aspects of the foundation’s student support goals. Previously, Lucille was the volunteer program coordinator for Partners in Education (Santa Barbara County Education Office) where she worked to connect community volunteers with local classroom needs. She also worked in development with Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics following program management roles with the City of Santa Barbara’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Lucille’s interest in connecting community services with those in need drew her to the work of the county’s Human Services Commission, as well as other service organizations such as Junior League, Rotary International, and Soroptimist International. She currently sits on the Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee’s Legislative and Advocacy Committee. In addition, Lucille has connected with various advocacy groups – serving as lead legislative ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network and working with CEASE (Coalition Engaged in a Smoke-free Effort, a branch of the County’s Public Health Department) to eliminate tobacco products and electronic cigarettes from county beaches, parks, and trails.
Lucille is a San Diego native, and moved to Santa Barbara to attend Santa Barbara City College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from California Lutheran University, and a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Northridge.
