SBCC Promise student Chris Almazan has a big goal: to become an architect. He loves residential design and plans to build his own house someday. His coursework at SBCC so far has included a range of subjects, and a couple of favorites are drafting and geography. As an SBCC Promise student, all of his fees, books, and supplies are covered.
“One of the best things about going to college here is the SBCC Promise. The financial support has allowed me to concentrate on my studies,” Chris said. In addition to financial support, he has found student support programs such as EOPS (Extended Opportunities Programs and Services) to be helpful, as they provide assistance with academics, career planning, and personal development. “EOPS has helped tremendously, elevating my college experience and making things much smoother than I expected!”
After he earns his associate degree in drafting, Chris plans to pursue his education in architecture. The SBCC Promise and student support programs are helping him achieve his dream of becoming an architect and building the life he has envisioned.
